ISTA is the International Safe Transit Association which is the Certification Standard for Package Testing for distribution. Creating Procedures in which packages are validated, ISTA Standards provide a methodology that is recognized and revered by the packaging community, as well as Amazon.com. Purple Diamond works in compliance with these standards to test your packaging.
ISTA 1 SERIES: Non-simulated Integrity Performance Tests, which challenges product and package capability to withstand hazards.
Procedure 1A- Integrity testing for individual packaged-products, which evaluates product and package performance as well as compares it to alternative designs. Including product weighs of 150 lbs. or less
Procedure 1B- Integrity testing for individual packaged-products, which evaluates product and package performance as well as compares it to alternative designs. Including product weighs of over 150 lbs.
Procedure 1C- Extended Test Procedures for Packaged-products with weighs of 150lbs. or less
Procedure 1D- Extended Test Procedures for Packaged-products with weighs over 150lbs.
Procedure 1E- Integrity testing for unitized loads; skids or pallets of secured package/products that ship as a single load
Procedure 1G- Integrity testing for individual packaged-products, with weighs of 150 lbs. or less using random vibration tests
Procedure 1H- Integrity testing for individual packaged-products, with weighs of over 150 lbs. using random vibration tests
ISTA 2 SERIES: A combination of basic test elements of ISTA 1 (non-simulation integrity tests) and ISTA 3 (general stimulation performance tests)
Procedure 2A- Integrity testing for individual packaged-products, evaluating packaged product with weighs of 150 lbs. or less with considerations for international distribution.
Procedure 2B- Integrity testing for individual packaged-products, evaluating packaged product with weighs of over 150 lbs. with considerations for international distribution.
Procedure 2C- Partial stimulation test used for individual furniture packages.
ISTA 3 SERIES: General Simulation Performance Test, with a broad of vehicle and transportation variations.
Procedure 3A- Packaged-product testing for distribution through the parcel delivery system with four specific package types; standard, small, flat, elongated
Procedure 3B- Packaged-product testing for distribution through a motor carrier system, using various shippers intended for different destination, whilst in the same load. Labeled as Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) 3B works with four different package types; Standard 200lb or less, standard over 200lb, cylindrical and palletized.
Procedure 3E- Simulation tests for similar packaged-products in unitized loads for truckload distribution
Procedure 3F- Simulation tests for packaged products shipped as individual packages from distribution to a retail outlet.
Procedure 3H- Simulation for mechanically handled bulk transport containers.
ISTA 4 SERIES: Enhanced Simulation Performance Testing, covering 12 various package types.
Procedure 4AB- Project: Packaged-Products for Shipment in Known Distribution Channels
ISTA 6 SERIES: Performance tests done by members to meet specific purpose and application. Series 6 works in compliance with other published and accepted test methods.
